Also in later years football matches were a popular part of the festivities surrounding the Queen's Birthday in Paramaribo. Both the S.V.B. and the rival catholic federation (K.V.B., since 1930 N.G.V.B.) tried to attract the football loving public with international matches, usually involving sides from British Guiana (often announced as Demerara), sometimes also from the Dutch Caribbean colonies of Aruba and Curaçao.
Year Winners Runners-Up 1910 Juliana 4-0 HM "Utrecht" 1911 Juliana 2-0 H.B.S. 1912 Juliana 9-1 S.S.S. 1913-18 not held 1919 Blauw-Wit 1-0 U.D.I. [aet] 1920 Olympia 0-0 Blauw-Wit [aet; first prize awarded to Olympia]
The following events all involved visiting sides from Georgetown, British Guiana. At all events from 1924 until 1938, they came as guests of the catholic football federation, the K.V.B. (renamed N.G.V.B. in 1930), set up to rival the S.V.B. (F.I.F.A. members for the territory since 1929). The N.G.V.B. was dissolved during World War II; in 1945 and 1947 the B.G.F.A. visited Paramaribo as guests of the S.V.B. Following controversy after the final match for the Brown Betty Cup in 1947, at which the visitors were allegedly stoned, and the renewed foundation of the N.G.V.B. in July of that year, the B.G.F.A. once more showed up as guests of the catholic federation in 1948.
