Amo Amateur Cup Competition

The Amo Amateur Cup was offered by Harri Alouysius Amo, a civil engineer from Surinam who lived in Georgetown, Demerara, British Guiana. The first two editions, both played in Paramaribo, involved a Georgetown club side (Everton F.C.). The third edition, in 1932, saw an official B.G.F.A. selection travelling to Surinam, and after the fourth edition in Georgetown, in which they secured their first win, the B.G.F.A. decided to recognise the trophy as equivalent with the Walcott Cup, which had been competed between the British Guiana FA and the K.V.B./N.G.V.B. (the catholic federation of Surinam) since 1925.

Note that the K.V.B. (Katholieke Voetbal Bond) was founded in August 1924 and renamed N.G.V.B. (Nederlandsch Guyana Voetbal Bond) at the start of 1930. It was one of two rival football federations in Paramaribo; the S.V.B. (Surinaamsche Voetbal Bond) was founded in October 1920 and obtained F.I.F.A. membership in May 1929.
Neither the N.G.V.B. nor the B.G.F.A. were F.I.F.A. members.
