In 1941, all Soviet organisations and clubs were dissolved by the German occupying forces. In 1942 the Germans allowed the foundation of new sports clubs, such as FC Start, Ruch and Sport, which played a number of friendly matches, also against teams from the German Artillery, the Reichsbahn Sportgemeinschaft (a German railway side) and garrison clubs from the Hungarian army (allied to Germany). Between 1942 and 1944 (when German occupation ended) clubs from western Ukraine organised a football league.
