Due to the outbreak of the Great War, the championship was played in a different format, first at district level, and then a playoff between the district winners.

However, US Hollerich protested against Sporting having fielded Batty Meyer in
the match on Mar 21, as Meyer was also licensed in Switzerland and neither he
nor Sporting had applied for the necessary permission to play in Luxembourg;
the board of the federation and its council of delegates rejected the protest,
but at an extraordinary general meeting held on Jun 20 the protest was upheld,
and Sporting's win over US Hollerich was changed into a forfeit loss.
