The first player to score a hat-trick for India was striker Lumsden, in a friendly
match against Australia during Australia Tour of 1938.
After independence, the first player to do so was Sheoo Mewalal in a 4-0 victory over
Burma in the 1952 Colombo Quadrangular Tournament.
Neville D'Souza scored a hat-trick at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, the first Asian
to do so in the history of Olympics football.
K. Appalaraju and Sunil Chhetri are the only Indian footballers to have scored a
hat-trick more than once. Appalaraju scored two hat-tricks in the 1964 Olympic Qualifiers.
Chhetri managed four, over a period of fifteen years.
Only FIFA A international matches considered.
