1982 Introduction of women football in Zambia in the Copperbelt province. 1984-1990 The Times of Zambia reported on 6 January 1990 that the ZWFA (Zambia Women's FA) reigning league champions Kitwe Flying Angels won the "African Cup" in 1988 by beating Zimbabwe's Dynamo Queens over two legs, and that Flying Angels were "preparing to represent the continent at the womens World Cup in Italy later this year" (1990); this may refer to an eventually cancelled edition of the Mundialito in 1990. A report on 31 Aug 1990 mentioned that Kitwe Flying Angels had been champions for the past 5 years. After the privatisation of the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM), who were the major sponsors of women football on the Copperbelt, women football there died out by 1990. 1990-1998 Women football was introduced in Lusaka under the Sport For All (SFA) project in 1990, but no national league was introduced until 1998. 1999-2001 Kabwata EDUSPORT United won an international tournament (the Norway Cup) in Norway 1999; following this sucess, a national league recognised and supported by the FAZ was introduced in 1999, dominated in the early years by EDUSPORT.
