South Africa - Makana FA (Robben Island)

The Makana FA organised a league between the prisoners on Robben Island between 1969/70 and 1973. In 2007, the Makana FA was awarded honorary FIFA membership (as first ever association).
During the first two seasons, the league comprised nine clubs which each entered a team in three separate divisions, while the final season only had five clubs.

1972

B-Division

NB: Dynaspurs (United) FC was created from the remnants of Hotspurs and Dynamos; they
    fielded two teams, B1 and B2, in the B-Division, the first time any team did so.

1973

NB: in 1973 Dynaspurs were forced to disband one of their B-Division sides because they
    were running out of players;
    Gunners, Ditshitshidi, and Mphatlalatsane were all dissolved and instead two new clubs,
    Pioneers FC and Island Tigers, were founded;
    Dynaspurs merged with Bucks FC to become Dinare FC;
    due to all the above, the league shrank to 5 clubs.
