The Federasyon Kupası (Federation Cup) was organized by the TFF to select a club to represent Turkey at the European Champions Cup. The competition in 1956/57 consisted of two stages, the knock-out stage and the Final Group. In the first stage the clubs were split into three groups with 10 clubs each. One group consisted of 10 Istanbul clubs, the second one of 10 İzmir clubs and the third one of 8 Ankara clubs and 2 Adana clubs, the only 2 professional clubs outside the three major cities mentioned above. Both clubs from Adana had to play their matches in Ankara. The second stage was contested in a Final Group, which was played in league format. The clubs played against each other twice. Beşiktaş won the tournament and thus qualified for representing Turkey at the European Cup. However, since the TFF failed to register their name for the draw in time, they could not participate in the 1957/58 season of the European Cup after all.
