Singapore Malay FA visited Java on the invitation of Setia, a Djakarta club celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Warmup: 3-7 Singapore Combined RAF 0-3 Singapore Malay FA Matches in Indonesia 8-7 Djakarta Chung Hua 3-2 Singapore Malay FA 11-7 Djakarta U.M.S. 2-2 Singapore Malay FA 12-7 Djakarta Persidja 4-2 Singapore Malay FA 14-7 Bandung Persib 2-3 Singapore Malay FA 15-7 Bandung PON West Java XI 2-1 Singapore Malay FA NB: Chung Hua and U.M.S. both were Djakarta (chinese) club sides; Persidja and Persib were the city federations of Djakarta and Bandung resp.; PON (Pekan Olahraga Nasional) was a national sports event ("national sports week") held for the third time in September 1953, in which provincial selections entered, including that of West Java which used the encounter against the Malay FA as a preparation match.
