Panama - List of Champions

A national league was first formed in 1937 after the merger of the Liga Nacional (founded in 1925 and covering the capital Ciudad de Panamá) and the Liga Atlántica (founded in 1933, with as centre Colón). The first organised league was the Isthmian League, created 1921, whose inaugural winners were Standard Oval; in 1925 the Liga Nacional de Football was formed, with 6 participants and inaugural winners Panamá Hardware; in 1934 Roxy won the Liga Nacional de Football and Colón Rangers the (inaugural edition of the) Liga Atlántica.

The Asociación Nacional Pro Fútbol (ANAPROF) was formed in 1988.

[*] San Francisco won 1995/96 championship final after winning a penalty shoot-out

NB: starting with the 2007 season, two separate championships were awarded,
      the playoff between Apertura and Clausura winners being abolished;
    however, later all "half-season" titles between 2001 and 2006 were counted
      as official titles, relegating the playoff between the two to a sort
      of post-season super cup match;
    due to a change in calendar, there were two Apertura tournaments in 2009 (one
      of ANAPROF and one of LPF); relegation was decided after the two 2009 Apertura
      tournaments and then after the 2009/10 Clausura, 2010/11 Apertura and 2010/11
      Clausura tournaments;
    because of another change in calendar, the Apertura 2019 (as part of the 2019/20
      season) was followed by the Apertura 2020, which was abandoned on 17 March due
      to the Covid-19 pandemic.

From 1994 to 1996 Panamese football went through a schism, with the
alternative federation, LINFUNA (officially recognised by FIFA then).
