In 1933, the Liga Atlántica de Football was founded in Colón, in competition with the existing league in and around Ciudad de Panamá. In 1934, an interprovincial championship was to be contested between the champions of the capital league (Roxy) and the winners of the 1933 Liga Atlántica (Colón Rangers); the match apparently was played but declared invalid; in 1937 the two leagues united.
