Promoted: Kwara Stars FC (Ilorin), Wikki Tourists (Bauchi), Gabros International
and Lobi Stars FC (Makurdi).
Sharks were not allowed to play their last six matches (awarded to their
opponents), after the club refused to comply with a decision by the NFA
relocating the team to Abeokuta (following incidents at matches). Thereupon
the NFA banned the club for two years, a suspension lifted in summer 1999.
Second Division Playoff Final:
Kwara Stars FC (Ilorin) 3-1 Wikki Tourists (Bauchi)
NB: Stationary Stores, who played in the second division 1998 and are one of
the most successful and traditional clubs in the country, are apparently
relegated to the amateur leagues for 1999; the club had been suspended
after nine matches in the 1998 season due to family wranglings.
