Second Level 2001

Between 1960 and 1973, Cameroon had a nationwide second level, D2, and
at the end of each season the top-3 were promoted to D1, from which 3
teams came down as well.

From 1974 on, the 2nd level was split into provincial leagues, with a
national play-off (Tournoi Inter-Poules) to decide promotion.

From 1974 to 1983, the country had 7 provinces, and the Tournoi Inter-Poules
featured the 7 provincial champions, 3 of which were promoted.

In 1984, three more provinces were created, and 10 teams entered the
Tournoi Inter-Poules from 1984 to 1999.

Starting with the year 2000, Fécafoot gave additional (2nd) berths to
the provinces Ouest (west), Littoral (coast), Centre (centre) and
Sud-Ouest (southwest), so 14 entries in total.

Until the end of the eighties, the Inter-Poules was played in Douala
or Yaoundé, but since it has been held in various provincial capitals.
