Cayman Islands - List of Champions

The Cayman Islands include three inhabited islands: Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. Not much is known about football on the smaller islands: there was a futsal competition in Little Cayman in 1977 and Cayman Brac had its own 6-a-side league. A team from Cayman Brac has entered the Grand Cayman league structure (with interruptions) since at least the 2000/01 season, when they finished fourth in the second division.

The 1970/71 season was the first organised by CIFA, whose foundation was announced in the Caymanian Weekly issue of 6 Aug 1970 (CIFA's website dates the foundation to 1966); the issue of 12 Aug 1971 reported that CIFA had affiliated to the Jamaica Football Federation (and thus, indirectly, to CONCACAF and FIFA).
However, football had been played at the Town Hall Field in West Bay since the 1950s, with as most prominent club West Bay United. Reportedly the first ever match between primary school children was played in 1969 between school boys from George Town and West Bay.
