Afro-Asian Games 2003

The Afro-Asian Games are a multi-sports event, not connected with the discontinued Afro-Asian Cup of Nations. Participation for the football tournament is by invitation.

The tournament was originally scheduled for New Delhi in November 2001, but was postponed because of the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The original list of participants was:

Group A
India
Morocco
Nigeria
Turkmenistan

Group B
Cameroon
Iran
Kuwait
South Africa
Of these, only India and Iran eventually participated in 2003. (And Iran sent a club team, Malavan Anzali, to represent them.) Cameroon pulled out at the last moment and were replaced by Zimbabwe.
