Younger brother of Evert Bulder; the two never played together in the national team. Both were part of the squad for the 1920 Olympics but only Jaap (considered the best player from the northern part of the Netherlands until the appearance of Abe Lenstra) was in the first eleven; when he was suspended for the final match deciding silver and bronze medals against Spain for disciplinary reasons, his brother obtained his only cap.
