Of the 18 players on the tour, nine were debutants, and a further
six had fewer than five caps prior to the tour. The main purpose
of the tour was to prepare a team for the qualifying tournament of
the 1964 Olympic Games, and also to practice in conditions similar
to those that would be experienced in 1964 in Japan. Initially,
only the match vs Israel was considered a full international by
the SvFF. However, the FA of Thailand reported the match in
Bangkok to FIFA, and it was subsequently accepted by the SvFF as
a full international.
