1950-51 Muhafızgücü changed their name to Karagücü. Gençlerbirliği won the championship title and qualified for the 1951 Turkish Football Championship. The Turkish Championship was held as top-level national championship for the last time in 1951. Since the Turkish Football Federation introduced professionalism in that year, amateur clubs were no longer considered to be first level, hence the Turkish Football Championship was only available for amateur clubs. Their last five matches were scored as 3-0.
1954-55 In the 1954-55 season there was a notable issue concerning the status of the military clubs. The civilian clubs no longer wanted to compete in a league with military sides. Thus both sides were split in two groups, the civilian clubs competed in the White Group, while the military clubs made up the Green Group. Harp Okulu, who were excluded from the league last season, were included in the military league, alongside Denizgücü from the fourth division and Yedek Subay. Otoyıldırım, Hilâl, and Yolspor from the second division were included in the civilian group. The Ankara champions would have been decided in a championship playoff, consisting of the two top placed clubs of each group. Because of the stance of the civilian clubs, the playoff was not played and hence no champions were declared in that season. 1955-56 In 1955-56 the Ankara League became professional, changing its name to Ankara Professional Football League. Since military clubs cannot become professional by Turkish law, they could no longer participate in the professional divisions. All eight clubs of the Ankara Professional League qualified for the 1956-57 Federation Cup, which was held as a national championship.
