The ninth edition of the Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası (Turkish Football Championship) was held in 1942. This year the format of the championship was changed again. From this year on the Turkish champion was decided in a Final Group, which consisted of four clubs and was played in league format. The champions of the three major regional leagues İstanbul, Ankara, and İzmir were qualified directly. The champions of the remaining regional leagues played in regional qualification groups, with the winners of those groups competing against each other in a play-off tournament. The winner of the play-off qualified for the Final Group as the fourth and last team. All Final Group matches were played at 19 Mayıs Stadium in Ankara.
