Surinam 1923

The competition below is not considered an official championship, because it was not organised by the S.V.B. but by the R.K.S.C. (Roomsch Katholiek Sport Comité). However, Olympia were considered champions by contemporary newspapers and received the first prize, a silver cup, out of the hands of the colonial governor.
All participating clubs were members of the S.V.B. at the time, and apart from bottom club Zeelandia all entered the next league competition in 1923/24 (organised by the S.V.B.).
This was the last league competition before the inauguration of the new "Suriname Stadion" on July 29, 1923 at the Cultuurtuin; all matches were played at the Patronaatsterrein at the R.K. Ziekenhuis (Roman Catholic Hospital) inaugurated on April 3, 1921.

NB: Olympia, Excelsior and U.D.I. were considered "Eerste Klasse" clubs,
    while Ajax, Zwaluw and Zeelandia belonged to the "Tweede Klasse";
    the competition was thus considered an "Overgangsklasse".
