NB: cancelled due to financial reasons; next edition in May/June 2003.



1st National Football League 2002

To be played in four stages.

Stage 1: district leagues.  Champions of each qualify for stage 2.
Stage 2: provincial leagues.  District league winners compete with
         departmental teams named by federation.  Top-4 of Sindh and
         top-2 of Punjab, NWFP and Baluchistan qualify for stage 3.
Stage 3: qualifying round for national league.  Eight departments with
         voting right in federation compete with the 10 provincial league
         qualifiers.  Top-8 qualify for stage 4.
Stage 4: national league.  To be played in 64(?) matches in all major
         cities of the country.

Stage 1 scheduled until May 15

NB: postponed to 2003.

Tournament to be restarted on Dec 29 at Arakan Sports Club ground in 
Orangi Town, with 64 teams from 5 zones of the city in first round and 
teams from the districts Thatta, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Nawabshah 
joining in the second round.
