On Jan 30, 1955, the first women's match in the Netherlands (after World War II) was played, a friendly between Full Speed and Zeemeeuwen, won 4-1 by Full Speed; attendance: 5,000, at Sportpark Schoonenberg in Velsen. On Apr 16, 1955, ten clubs (Apoldro, D.C.O., Full Speed, Herbido, Holviams, Minerva, Rievelo, Rood-Wit-Blauw, S.V.A. and Voetballerina's) founded the N.D.V.B. (Nederlandse Dames Voetbalbond) in Utrecht, which proceeded to organise the first ever women's league in the Netherlands. Originally, 14 clubs inscribed (the ten founding members were joined by E.H.D.V.V., Union, Zeemeeuwen and Zilvermeeuwen) who were divided into two groups: District A (West) D.C.O. (Haarlem) E.H.D.V.V. (Rotterdam) were admitted as replacement, leaving 11 clubs who played in one group. Matches were 2x30 minutes.
