Torneo de Campeones y Subcampeones de la CONCACAF
Teams in final round:
1962 to 1970: Two teams, the finalists. (But in 1968 and 1970 three teams reached finals, two of them withdrew,
they are counted as losing finalists). Tournament not played in 1964, 1965 and 1966.
1971: Six teams (two from each zone) play Final League.
1972 to 1990: Two teams. Final played between:
- winner of Caribbean Zone, and
- winner of North/Central American Zone, often played as separated zones with a semifinal between both winners (but
loser of this semifinal only known form 1987 to 1990 )
(In 1973 there was not a Northern/Central representative; Transvaal awarded champions without playing final)
(In 1976 and 1984 Robin Hood and NY C. Freedoms, respectively, withdrew in final; counted as losing finalists)
(In 1978 three champions shared, because of lack of fixtures)
(In 1980 final league with 3 teams: one from each zone)

1991: Three teams: Winners of North zone directly qualified to final; semifinal between winners of Central zone and

1993 to 1995: Four teams (three of North/Central zone and one of Caribbean zone)
1996: Four teams (three of Mexico/Central zone, and the winner of a play-off between USA representative and winner of Caribbean)
1997 to 2000: Eight teams (four from Northern zone, three from Central zone, one from Caribbean zone).
Third place shared in 1997 and 1999.Tournament of season 2000 played in January 2001.
From 2001 edition, the tournament will be named FC Champions Series
Recopa
1991 to 1995: Four teams. Not played in 1992. Third place shared in 1994.
1996: Not finished. Surviving teams qualify to 1997 edition
1997: Final not played. Both teams counted as losing finalists. Four others counted as semifinalists
(as six teams played semifinals)
1998: Abandoned.
Giants Cup
2001: Four teams.
Copa Interamericana
1968 to 1998. Eventually played between champions of Concacaf and winners of Copa Libertadores.
Only 18 Copa Interamericana played in 31 seasons; only four of them won by teams from Concacaf.
FIFA Clubs World Cup
2000. One team from Concacaf (Necaxa, third)
The FC Clubs Cup has been stablished by The Football Confederation in November 2000 to be played every two years by
champions and runners-up up of both continental cups of the previous two seasons. Qualifying to FIFA Clubs World Cup. First edition: January 2003.

Note formula used from 1972 to 1990 didn’t warrant best two teams meeting in the final, as far as most of
the best were North or Central American, while Caribbean ones were in a very lowest level. So, 13 finals
were played under this rule: 11 won by North/Central American side, only 2 by Caribbean representatives.
