Under the new format, only the top six teams in Division One and the Division Two champions and runners-up will be involved in the Malaysia Cup. It will be played from the quarterfinal Stage, scheduled for November after the Semi Pro League. The Malaysia Cup quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on a home and away basis.
