Oceanian Tour of England Amateurs 1937


The English FA sent an English Amateur Team to Australia and New Zealand in 1937, after many years spent by the Dominions in attempting to arrange such a tour.

The list of matches below is complete for the New Zealand part of the tour, but is almost certainly incomplete for the Australian part of the tour.

Notes:              Two days prior to the match it was announced that W Sutherland was to be the twelfth 
                    man and that D Souter and M Burnand would start for Canterbury. However, two last 
                    minute changes were made and D Souter and M Burnand were replaced by R Scott and C Crowe
                    (who were Westland's only representatives in this match). It is not clear whether 
                    W Sutherland remained as the 12th man. 
                    J Cawtheray was in charge of selecting the Canterbury & Westland team. 
                    Canterbury were 1-0 up after only a minute. The half-time score was 1-4.
