Championship Playoff 1st leg Herediano 2-0 Cartaginés NB: Herediano, winners of the regular championship, and Cartaginés, who won the final round, were due to decide the title in Costa Rica, but the first leg went to the law courts and the second was suspended just before the half-time. Herediano won the first leg 2-0 but Cartaginés claimed that the penalty with which they scored one of the goal was not valid. The foul was outside the area, and they had a TV-film to prove it. They handed the film to their lawyers to go to court, and sent a copy and fax to FIFA to get their opinion. Everything would have been settled if Herediano had got at least a draw in the second leg, but after 44 minutes a fan broke on the field and was manhandled by police, who where then stoned by spectators. Herediano is champion 1992/93 after FA-decisions.
