Omnisports event for teams of Africa's "Zone 4". Successor tournament of the Jeux de la Coupe des Tropiques. The 1972 event was called Coupe d'Afrique Centrale, serving as qualifying section for the 1973 African Games; a second edition was to be held 1974 in Chad but eventually cancelled. The three tournaments between 1976 and 1987 were known as Jeux d'Afrique Centrale. The final edition in 1987 also served as qualifying section for the 1987 African Games.
