Originally to start early March, then postponed to July 6 but still not started due to a conflict between the federation and 8 of the clubs (including Vital'O and most of the Bujumbura clubs) on alleged malversations with money donated by FIFA. (The clubs accuse the members of the federation office of enriching themselves; in spite of USD 91,000 having been paid the national team had to borrow shirts!) Some sort of competition may have been carried out at the end of the year. Apparently Muzinga won the league title; they represented Burundi at the 2003 CECAFA Club Cup and the African Champions Cup 2003. They were also referred to as holders in the 2004 championship. Third Division A (possibly belongs to season 2002/03) Final Ranking: 1.Lorenzia 2.Memesa 3.Dragon Super Rangers FC Lorenzia and Memesa promoted to 2nd level2001.
2003.
