    Champions' League 2006

NB: competition restricted to 14 countries considered 'mature' in
the so-called 'Vision Asia' paper of AFC President Mohamed
Bin Hammam. The so-called 14 'developing' countries have
their clubs relegated to the AFC Cup, while the clubs from
the 'emerging' countries are dumped into the new Presidents Cup.

The lucky countries are (as in 2005):
Central and West Asia (8): Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar,
                                   Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Uzbekistan
East Asia (6): China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand,
                       Vietnam

However, both Indonesia and Thailand had both entries rejected
for failure to submit player squads in time.
