NB: Five teams qualified directly for the final tournament, namely Japan, 
    Australia,* and South Korea (as the top-3 of the Asian Nations Cup 2011), 
    North Korea (as winners of the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup) and Palestine 
    (as winners of the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup). 
* - Australia were also assured of a place at the finals as the hosts.
