Subject: PK shootout statistics - international tournaments

got all this data from www.rsssf.com . Here are all international matches
that I could find, valid for WC or continental tournaments (finals only, no
qualifiers) that were decided by pk shootouts. Below the list, some
stats/rankings. The numbers in brackets refer to the amount of penalties
taken by each team in that shootout (e.g, (5) means both teams took 5
penalties, (4/3) means the first took 4 and the other 3, etc. (?) means that
I couldn't find this info), the letters refer to the stage of the
competition the match was valid for (EF = eightfinals, QF = quarterfinals,
SF = semifinals, 3rd = third place playoff, final = er, final).

If I missed any game, or got any score or stat wrong, please let me know.
Also, I could only get the full stats for the World Cup and Copa America.
For the Euros, post-1980 I couldn't get the info on the amount of penalties,
and the only other tournament I could find it was the African Nations Cup of
1992. If anyone can help me with these stats, it'll be very much
appreciated.

Ranked by # of wins, then least losses, then goals scored. Teams with only
one game ranked apart. A total of 48 teams were involved at least once in a
pk shootout in a senior continental competition final. This is merely to
ordenate the teams, and is not supposed to reflect differences in pk
shootout skills between teams. Saudi Arabia boasts a 4-0 record, but all of
it built in the Asian Nations Cup, while teams like France and Brasil
contested WC semifinals this way.
