From: Caspar Subject: Who would God support? Date: 1/3/2003 My friends and I are engaged in a heated debate: which soccer team would God support? I say it would surely be Real Madrid, with their saintly all-white strip, supreme elegance and style, and of course their incredible track record. My Brasilian friend says that God would surely support Brasil: he gave them the most beautiful women, the best beaches, and the best soccer team. Another friend say that Manchester United would be God's choice. But my response to this is: how could God support the RED DEVILS? I would love to hear your opinions on this matter. ===================================================================== From: Patrick Kehoe Subject: Re: Who would God support? Date: 2/3/2003 God supports Brazil at World Cup time, allowing Italy moments of transubstanciation... Spurs in England... Real Madrid in Spain and B. Munich in Germany... Rangers in Scotland and St Etiene in France... The Devil supports Inter in Italy, Man U in England, Hearts in Scotland and Flamingo in Brazil... ===================================================================== From: Paul C Subject: Re: Who would God support? He's been scoring goals for them in the World Cups too!! ===================================================================== From: Michael Hynes Subject: Re: Who would God support? Date: 3/3/2003 Which God ? Odin would probably support Sheffield Wednesday. Thor , I am guessing Viking Stavanger. Zeus must be an Olympiakos supporter. Hercules supports the eponymous team from Alicante. and our Christian god must be rooting for Santos. Only question is, which one ? ===================================================================== From: Markus Subject: Re: Who would God support? Date: 3/3/2003 Thor is the God who makes thunder and lightning, surely he supports Lyn (Lightning), with Brann (Fire) being his second team. I'd say it's probably Frøy who supports Viking while his wife Frøya roots for Haugesund. ===================================================================== From: Zlata Militaru Subject: Re: Who would God support? Date: 4/3/2003 There is no cat; there is no cradle. But if there was a God, I'm sure he (or she) would be a fan of the Tricolorii. I seem to recall from Sunday school back in the day, a Bible passage something along the lines of "blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Actually, when you think about it, God would probably be a fan of one of those really little pathetic countries that make Romania look like a first world capitalist paradise, like, I don't know, the Gabon. ===================================================================== From: Karel Stokkermans Subject: Re: Who would God support? Not only are they on just 1 win from 11 matches in the Uganda top division and on their way down, but their name abbreviates Tower Of Praise TeleVision. Alternatively I can offer the 'Holy Stars' from Techiman, who spent a single season at the first level in Ghana (1986). The 'Soccer Missionaries' from Fosu managed two seasons. However, personally I believe God supports Oude God Sport, once a redoubtable side in 'Bevordering' (the Belgian fourth level) but meanwhile fooling around in 4e provinciale Antwerpen (that's the eighth level over there). How could He fail to support a team called 'Old God Sport'? Cheers, Karel
