Shaw played the entire 1900-01 season for Rob Roy. However, Shaw played for Kirkintilloch United in youth tournaments for the next three years. Sometimes he was called to Rob Roy. In 1904-05 Shaw returned to Rob Roy, but played again for Kirkintilloch United in April and May. A move to Baillieston Thistle in the summer of 1905 was the next step in Shaw's career. In April 1906, the Scottish League club Port Glasgow Athletic invited Charlie Shaw due to a goalkeeper injury. After this transition, Shaw's career took off. In 1907 Shaw moved to London and played in the Southern League for 6 years. This league united the best clubs in London and the south of the country and in those years competed with the English league. The champions of both leagues played for FA Charity Shield. In inter-league tournaments, the Southern League team was ahead of the English League team in 1910 (1st place), 1912 and 1913 (2nd place after the Scottish League). In the last tournament (1912-13) Shaw played all 3 matches. After the end of this season he moved to Celtic. For 18 years (1906-1924) Shaw played for clubs with virtually no replacements, missing only 18 games. Oddly enough, Shaw never played for the national team. The Celtic team was jokingly called "10 Internationalists and Shaw". Charlie Shaw holds several records for the most clean sheets. He recorded 323 clean sheets in Scottish and Southern League matches. The most successful one was the first season as part of Celtic - 26 clean sheets in 38 games, which is still one of the highest results in the leading championships. In 1979, Roy Clemence surpassed this mark (28), but did so in 42 matches. Given that the Southern League was one of the top three leagues in the world until 1914, it can be argued that Charlie Shaw holds the world record for most league clean sheets - 331 (including ASL), ahead of Buffon (305), Clemence and Al Hadary (300 each) and all other goalkeepers. Charlie Shaw has a number of other achievements at the national and worldwide level. 1) 1287 minutes without conceding a goal (1913-14) 2) one conceding goal in 23 consecutive games (11.10.1913 - 21.02.1914) 3) highest percentage of clean sheets in the Scottish League (230/459)
