Nasazzi's Baton

Notes: named after Jose Nasazzi, captain of the Uruguay team that won the first official World Championship. The Baton changes hands when the holders are defeated in a match regarded by FIFA and both participating teams as a full international. Drawn matches in knock-out tournaments that are decided by extra time, penalty kicks, golden goals, silver goals, corner kicks, tossing a coin or drawing lots are regarded as drawn matches - the Baton does not change hands.

A similar idea is behind the Unofficial World Championship.
