Abegglen Brüder (II and III) - International Appearances

The brother pair of Max and André Abegglen played together for the Swiss national team on 18 occasions. In each of the first 12 of these, at least one of the brothers scored, a series halted in a match in Amsterdam in 1933 which nevertheless saw the first away win ever in matches between the Netherlands and Switzerland (in the 9 previous encounters, the Swiss had won all their 5 home matches and the Netherlands all their 4). In four matches, including two for the International Cup, a championship contested by five Central European national teams which dominated continental European football at the time, both brothers scored at least once; in one match against Czechoslovakia, both scored twice. In the 18 matches in which both played for Switzerland, they together took care of two thirds of the goals scored by the Swiss.

Max also played together with his older brother, Jean.
